    Microsoft 365 is a collective work environment that provides versatile tools as a cloud service. You can use M365 service independently or by utilizing several tools in teaching and studying. Most tools are also available as a desktop apps.

    How to login to M365

    You can log in at web page www.hamk.fi (click Kirjaudu / Login).
    There opens a login window where you sign in with your HAMK username and password. Write “User Name” and “Password” in following format:

    • ​Students: username@student.hamk.fi (e.g. james1143@student.hamk.fi)
    • Staff: username@hamk.fi (​e.g. shirley12@hamk.fi)

    After login you can use all M365 online services (Outlook, Calender, OneDrive, Yammer etc.), found in the app menu.

    HAMK’s M365 services

    You can navigate easily to services mentioned above through app menu, top left corner.

    • People is where your HAMK contacts are stored and where you can view any address books that have been set up for your organization.
    • Outlook WebApp and calendar in online versions.
    • OneDrive for Business is personal online storage space.
    • SharePoint  is a place for informative intranet sites and workspaces.
    • To Do. Use your Tasks folder to keep track of things that you need to do but don’t necessarily want to put on your calendar.
    • Office Online is a collection of tools that you can use through your Web browser. Apps include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote Online -tools.
    • ​Yammer is a social conversation, messaging and networking platform.
    • Forms is an easy way to create quizzes or questionnaires.
    • Delve helps you discover the information that’s likely to be most interesting to you right now – across M365. Delve also lets you view your colleagues’ profiles, or edit your own.
    • Sway is a rich content creation tool.
    • OneNote is for digital notes
    • Groups is a tool for teamwork and includes email, calendar and documents.
    • Teams is a new platform for teamwork.
    • Planner helps you to manage your and our team’s tasks.
    • Whiteboard: digital canvas

    Data protection of M365 services

    A lot of information about the data protection of M365 services can be found in Microsoft’s page M365 – Trust Center.

    Microsoft tells that the data centres of M365 cloud services for Europeans are located in Ireland and in the Netherlands (see Where is my data?). The details and email addresses needed in user authentication are stored in US data centres. Malware screenings for email can also be carried out in the US data centres (for load balancing).
