In Moodle, there are several ways to submit learning assignments. The most common methods are submitting a file/files or text directly to a Moodle assignment activity or sending a message to a collaborative discussion forum. In the first method, the submission is between the student/student group and the teacher. The second option shows the message and submission to the teacher and other students. In this case, peer review and discussion can be utilised, for example.
This section explains the three most typical submission types:
- File upload (reports, etc.)
- Web text (links to videos, blog posts, etc.)
- Video assignment submission from HAMK’s video service (Kaltura)

An activity usually includes the teacher’s assignment description and the last accepted submission date. When time is left, the student can add the submission as a file/text to Moodle. Depending on your settings, you can submit one or more files. In addition, the teacher may require that the student submit the work for evaluation and upload the file. After this, the file can no longer be edited but will be transferred to the teacher for evaluation.
