Recording and sharing a Zoom session
Article sections
You can save and share recordings of your Zoom sessions. HAMK’s Zoom has local storage on your computer.
Before starting the recording, you should check the recorder’s memo list to ensure that the recording only shows appropriate content and avoid unnecessary interruptions: Memo list for sharing or recording your own screen.
Also take advantage of the guide Zoom: what information do participants see during a Zoom session or in a recording, so that you are aware of what will be included in the recording.
If there is small group work in progress in the recorded session, the recording follows the person who made the recording. If the person making the recording is in different breakout rooms, they will be recorded while the Recorder is there.

afterwards
Did your recording remain unconverted after the session? You can do that later through the app’s Meetings listing, where you’d normally be able to open or play any recordings you’ve made.
- Sign in to the Zoom app.
- Click on the Meetings tab.
- Click the Recorded tab.
- Choose the right session from the list.
- Click (behind the three dots) Convert.
Note sometimes afterwards, when starting the conversion, you may get a warning message informing the user about possible dangerous files. This is. the so-called precaution. If that recording file is from your own computer, can be found in Zoom’s own folder, and you know that you have recorded a session recently, it is safe to convert.
