Microsoft 365 is a collective work environment that provides versatile tools as a cloud service. You can use M365 service independently or by utilizing several tools in teaching and studying. Most tools are also available as a desktop apps.

How to login to M365

Log in to Microsoft 365 portaal with HAMK credentials. Write “User Name” in following format:

• Staff: username@hamk.fi
• ​Students: username@student.hamk.fi

HAMK’s M365 services

The Microsoft 365 start page opens after you sign in. The renewed portal view in spring 2025 will bring Copilot Chat to the forefront, so you can easily ask questions to the AI. You’ll also find links to Microsoft apps on the landing page:

• Bookings: a personal booking page where others can schedule one-on-one meetings with you.
• Delve helps you discover the information that’s likely to be most interesting to you right now – across M365. Delve also lets you view your colleagues’ profiles, or edit your own.
• Forms is an easy way to create quizzes or questionnaires.
• Loop: a platform for organizing work
• Office Online is a collection of tools that you can use through your Web browser. Apps include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote Online -tools.
• OneDrive for Business is personal online storage space.
• OneNote is for digital notes
• Outlook WebApp and calendar in online versions.
• Planner helps you to manage your and our team’s tasks.
• SharePoint  is a place for informative intranet sites and workspaces.
• Sway is a rich content creation tool.
• Teams is a new platform for teamwork.
• To Do. Use your Tasks folder to keep track of things that you need to do but don’t necessarily want to put on your calendar.
• ​Viva Engage is a social conversation, messaging and networking platform.
• Whiteboard: digital canvas

Microsoft 365 Mobile App

Microsoft Office Online

Most Microsoft Office tools, such as Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, can be used both as online versions in a browser and as desktop applications (for HAMK staff).

Data protection of M365 services

A lot of information about the data protection of M365 services can be found in Microsoft’s page M365 – Trust Center.

Microsoft tells that the data centres of M365 cloud services for Europeans are located in Ireland and in the Netherlands (see Where is my data?). The details and email addresses needed in user authentication are stored in US data centres. Malware screenings for email can also be carried out in the US data centres (for load balancing).
