Kaltura’s analytics tools help with student guidance
Article sections
Learning analytics helps in teaching planning, student guidance and implementation development. There is a lot of information, the most important thing is to identify the most relevant information that supports the pedagogical model chosen for implementation.
Information from the Kaltura website
Kaltura’s own analytics shows the following information for each video in the time interval you want:
- video page views
- video playback times
- how much the video has been watched on average as a percentage
- how much video have been watched manually on average
- how many comments have been written on the video
You can also view the same information per user. Note If you can watch the video without logging in, you won’t get more detailed information.
For example, you can use Kaltura’s analytics to get an idea of how many people have watched a pre-shared video (flipped classroom).
Using Kaltura via Moodle
When you use the “Kaltura Video Resource” functionality in Moodle, you can use the heat map, which allows you to view how many students have opened and how many views there have been.
When you use the “Kaltura Media Gallery” functionality in Moodle, you get an overview of the videos uploaded to the gallery, how active the participants in the course area have been, what has been watched and done and how much. This tool enables the development of video viewing activity. You can see in one view who has brought content to the gallery and what type of media. With Media Gallery’s analytics, you can form an overall picture of the use of videos or, for example, Zoom recordings of the entire implementation.
