This page lists the main tools used in HAMK for post-processing videos, what you can do with them, and links to instructions.
Windows 10 video editor
- On Windows 10 machines, there is a software called “Video editor”, which replaces the previously used Movie Maker application.
- With the program, you can do simple merging and cutting of video clips, as well as adding pictures to the video. Adding texts is also possible. Adding music and audio files is possible. So-called fades cannot be produced with the editor.

Kaltura video editor
- With the Kaltura’s video editor that works in browser, you can make small changes to the video you upload to Kaltura. You can cut out and trim sections from the beginning, middle and end, and add fades.
- The video editor cannot combine multiple videos into one video. You can split the video into several videos by saving a copy of the edited version, but it is more practical to use some other tool for this clipping.

ScreenCast-O-Matic
- SOM is suitable for editing screen capture videos.
- You need a license to use the video editor.
- You can add other videos and images to the video and also remove material from the video.
- You can add titles and fades to the video, speak over the video or add music to the background, change the speed of the video, and manage the webcam image and cursor possibly attached to the video.
- In addition, you can semi-automatically produce subtitles for videos.

Adobe Rush
- Rush is an easy and quick to adopt tool for editing videos.
- With Rush, you can add other video clips and images to the video, as well as remove extra material from the video.
- You can add titles and fades to the video, speak over the video or add the desired sound file, edit the tones of the video and edit the speed of the video.
- The program is available for staff, you can download and install Rush from Creative Cloud, help.

Adobe Premiere Pro
- Adobe Premiere Pro is a tool for advanced creators and professionals.
- There are a lot of functions, even if you learn the tools related to basic video editing quite quickly. However, Premiere is not necessarily suitable as the first video editing tool you learn to use.
- Adobe Premiere can be installed by anyone from HAMK’s staff on their own computer, just like Adobe Rush, help.

Davinci Resolve
- Resolve is a free version of a heavy-duty editor used by professionals.
- From the basic user’s point of view, the features are the same as in the paid version of the program.
- A very extensive software with a lot of functions, which requires time to learn.
- Compared to Adobe Premiere, the user interface and operating logic are slightly different.
- Available to staff and students through HAMK’s software center.
